If you've been searching for Standard First Aid or Emergency First Aid, you may have noticed some new course names as of late. As of June 22, 2026, first aid course names recognized for WSIB requirements in Ontario have changed names!
The updated course names are:
- Standard First Aid, now known as Intermediate First Aid
- Emergency First Aid, now known as Basic First Aid
Has the Training Changed?
The most noticeable change is the course name. If you're an employer, employee, healthcare student, or member of the public looking to meet workplace first aid requirements, you should register for the course that corresponds to your certification needs under the new naming convention.
Why You May Still See the Old Course Names
At Canada-CPR, we've updated our website to reflect the new course names wherever possible. However, you may still find references to Standard First Aid and Emergency First Aid in certain areas of our website.
We've done this intentionally to make the transition easier for our customers. Many people are still familiar with the previous names and continue searching for them online. Keeping both the old and new names visible helps ensure visitors can quickly find the correct course without confusion.
For example:
- Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR/AED Level C
- Basic (Emergency) First Aid & CPR/AED Level C
This approach helps both new and returning students understand they're registering for the same course they intended to take.
Canada-CPR Is Here to Help
We understand that changes to course names can be confusing, especially during the transition period. Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible by providing clear information and keeping familiar terminology available while people adjust to the new names.
If you're unsure which first aid course you need, our team is happy to help. Contact us before registering, and we'll ensure you choose the certification that best meets your workplace, school, or personal requirements.
